Principle #1 Genetic Variation: In the image above a species of rare caterpillar are found in a cool climated area. The phenotype trait for there color is dark green and the other caterpillars are yellow.
Principle #2 Overproduction & the Struggle for Existence: The caterpillars with yellow fur struggle to survive because they are seen more easily by predators and the green ones have less of chance to be eaten by the bird because they camouflage with the green grass.
Principle # 3 Differential Survival & Reproduction: Since the yellow caterpillars are getting eaten, the green ones are more fit and going to have a chance to reproduce.
Principle #4 Changes in Gene Pool: Now that the yellow ones got eaten and selected against the green ones reproduced and flourished.
