Paul was born in Bronxville NY on April 1,1977 He grew up in Westchester NY.
At age 10 him and his family moved to Kingman, Arizona where he spent most of his childhood
They moved from top school districts to one of the worst school districts in the country. There his mother advocated for his education and encouraged him to read complex literature. First in his class, Paul attended Stanford University where he received his Bachelor and Master of Arts in English literature and Bachelor of science in Human Biology. He then attended Cambridge for History and philosophy of science and medicine where he got his Masters.
After Cambridge he attended Yale for Medical School where he met his wife Lucy. After graduating he married his wife and they both started there Residencies in California. Paul's residency was in Stanford and his wife was at University of California.
Though Paul finds residency hard at first, Paul begins to enjoy the difficult and complex challenges that are associated with Brain Surgery. In his 4th year he joins the Neurosurgery lab of Professor V. In his 6th year of residency he is ready to enter the world of medicine.
Paul life takes a turn when after a few weeks of being unwell it is confirmed he has lung cancer. Paul begins treatment with his doctor Emma. Paul begins his transition from Doctor to patient. Him and his wife decide to have a child at this time as well. They then discover his cancer is Genetic and begin a treatment. His treatment begins to work and Paul returns to work, it is hard for him to get through operations now.He gets another scan and its discovered he has a big tumor and requires chemotherapy. This begins his road downhill. He skips his graduation and his condition becomes severe.
In the final months of his life, Paul begins his Novel, When Breath Becomes Air. His daughter is born and they name her Elizabeth Acadia or Cady for short. In the end, in March things took a turn for the worse and Paul died in March 2015 surrounded by loved ones.
