Storyboard Text

  • We're Capitalist and Democratic
  • I wanna be like that too!
  • Western Europe is made up of Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Vatican City, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Greece and Austria
  • These countries were mostly influenced by the US after WW2. The "Iron Curtain" is what the separation of Western and Eastern Europe is called.
  • I don't agree with the communist government
  • You can't leave!
  • Their beliefs, languages, and religion are greatly impacted by western culture, so they are similar to the US in all those ways. They are mostly Christian but are not as religious as the East.
  • Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, and Slovakia, and the republics of Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine make up Eastern Europe.
  • With Eastern Europe, they were influenced mostly by the communist Soviet Union. The impact of the Iron Curtain was clearly shown when the Berlin Wall was built, dividing East and Western Germany.
  • Even today, there are still differences between their religion, language, and culture. The East is way more religious and confined to past mindsets, so they are not as modern and feel differently about minorities.
