In chapter 1, Buck's owner is Judge Miller. Buck is spoiled with a family that loves him. Judge Miller's gardener, Manuel had dog kidnap Buck and went to Seattle. Manuel sold Buck to this man named Perralut. Buck tried to bite Perralut because he didn't seem to like him. Buck a friend with another dog.
In chapter 2, Buck had learned about the law of clubs and fangs. Buck saw the fight between Curly and Spitz. Spitz had killed Curly and Buck was afraid. After that day, Buck had nightmares about his first fight he ever witnessed. Buck saw what the law of fangs and club did.
For chapter 3, the important event in this chapter was when Buck and Spitz had their big fight. Buck caught Spitz laying down on his nest and got mad. They both started to fight until it ended up bad. Buck had killed Spitz by attacking his leg. Now, people assume Buck is strong and Brave.
In the 4th chapter, Francois tries to make Sol-lek the leader, Buck wasn't happy about it. Buck made it clear to Francois and Sol-lek that he wanted the spot. By making it clear, he jumped on Sol-lek to get out of his way. Francois and Perrault knew that Buck wouldn't give up. They gave him spot as the leader and Sol-lek didn't want the job.
In chapter 4, Buck and his members were getting sold again by Charles, Hal, and Mercedes. The dogs and Buck were all lacking skills. John Thronton saved Buck from getting abused. While they were together, off in to woods, John thronton was the best owner that Buck had. Buck felt a connection between both of them together. He knew he was the one.
In chapter 5, John Thronton is very important to Buck because he got his trust and Buck feels loved. Buck loves John Thronton and he is the perfect master for him. This feeling to Buck is different because he isn't getting abused. John Thronton treated Buck like a children and Buck enjoyed it. Buck and John gets ready to get energy by sleeping.
