Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer. At a young age, he was into map making and navigation.
When his parents died, Magellan became a page for the queen and went to school at Queen Leonora's School Of Pages.
For wealth and fame, Magellan left Spain with a fleet of five ships.
Magellan finally reached the strait that would soon later be called the strait of Magellan. Once they approached here, only three of the five ships remained.
Magellan was now as close as he has ever been to reaching the West Indies. However, his crew member who he had picked up along the journey wanted to fight the people in the Philippines. Magellan took control in what he thought would be an easy fight. This would be where his life had ended.
Only one of the 5 ships came back to Spain. Magellan had died in battle and only 18 of the 270 who started the trip returned back.
