The Virginia House of Burgesses passed a resolution declaring that only elected representatives can tax the colonists.
A man named Sam Adams heard about this and he decided to start a group called the Sons of Liberty. One way they protested was by burning effigies that looked like tax collecters.

Businesses in Britain lost so much money that they demanded the Parliament to repeal the Stamp Act. So, in 1766 the Parliament repealed the Stamp Act.
