  • We shouldn't have to pay tax!
  • In 1765 Parliament passed the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act taxed almost all printed papers.
  • No taxation without representation!
  • Patrick Henry heard about this and was mad.
  • Did you hear that people are boycotting british goods?
  • The Virginia House of Burgesses passed a resolution declaring that only elected representatives can tax the colonists.
  • A man named Sam Adams heard about this and he decided to start a group called the Sons of Liberty. One way they protested was by burning effigies that looked like tax collecters.
  • Most people protested by boycotting British goods.
  • Businesses in Britain lost so much money that they demanded the Parliament to repeal the Stamp Act. So, in 1766 the Parliament repealed the Stamp Act.
