Here is our starting question, what is -17 - t - (t+3). To start off, you want to get the like terms next to each other in the equation. While doing this though, make sure to keep the right signs or symbols. For example, -17 + -3 - t - (-t)
Now for the final part of solving this question, you will just have to do all of the addition and subtraction. For example, -17 + -3=-20. And t - (-t)=2t. But don't forget the minus sign, so the final answer is -20 - 2t.
