In the past, Australia has attempted to reach out to young people on social media through the form of many campaigns.
I remember campaigns such as DrinkWise’s Parental Influence Campaign put the pressure on parents to be a positive influence on children, especially about alcohol. It was quite a successful campaign.
I especially believe that the parents play a key role in influencing a child’s decision to drink at an early age. Children commonly look for acceptance from their parents when making a decision, and if they grow up seeing that consuming alcohol is alright, they are very likely to copy this”.
We also have to consider the educational influence on how much young people drink. If young people are not properly educated then they may not know the dangers of alcohol and their own limits when consuming alcohol.
