Angered by Martin Luther's doings, the pope sent a cardinal to ask him if he would revoke his theses. Martin refused, though.
The pope demands that you revoke your theses!!
Martin later visited a town nicknamed the "Diet of Worms." He believe that he would be welcome, but instead it was a trap to force him to recant his views. Still, he refused, and the king of the Holy Roman Empire gave him 21 days of safety before anybody can legally kill him.
Recant your theses or else!
I stand with my words no matter what.
In order to make everybody believe he was dead, he had a prince that he was friends with pretend to kidnap him in the middle of the forest.
Hope this works.
After the pretend kidnapping, Martin was escorted to a castle where he was kept away safely from the church. During this time, he continued studying and translating the bible, along with supporting the Reformation.
