  • The Fredonian republic was when Haden and Benjamin Edwards started getting angry at the way things were in Mexico.
  • Battle of Gonzalez
  • So when the Mexican government got suspicious they sent Mier y Teran over to see what was going on. When he got there he saw some things and reported that the Texans to Mexican was 10 to 1.
  • Alamo
  • The law of April 6th was when the Mexican government said that: you could not have any more U.S. immigration, empresarios, slavery, and you have to pay taxes. The Texans were angry.
  • The Battle of San Jacinto
  • This was the first battle of the Texas Revolution. They fought over a small cannon that the Mexicans gave to them to fight off the Indians but when the Mexicans asked for it back the Texans didn’t want to give the cannon back so they had a fight that lasted two weeks.
  • The Mexicans surrounded the Alamo with over 4,000 men. The Texans tried to fight as hard as they could but it didn’t work. In the end, there were 189 casualties including the deaths of William B. Travis, Santa Anna, Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie.
  • The battle of San Jacinto, only lasted 18 minutes because the Mexicans were resting when the Texans attacked. The Texans won and captured Santa Anna. (This was all led by Sam Houston)
