My family is going through hard times. So my father decided that I should become a voyager, and sends me off to the Grand Portage.
I feel sort of sad after leaving St. Annes, I left a donation and now I'm heading off into the unknown! I don't really get along with my brigade, but there is a kid from my school who left last year and he is on my canoe! My muscles are sore and my blisters are popping, but it can't get worse from here... right?
We hit the rapids, so my brigade decided to do a portage, as you can probably see, I'm not doing to well with the carry. My muscles are sore, and blisters are worse than ever before, but I'll be fine...
Aw! Pepper, that tickles!
We are crossing Lake Superior! It was scary to cross that giant water, but mostly because our canoe got filled with water halfway through, we had to swim to the nearest island and sleep there for the night. We were supposed to stay by the shore, but we went to the middle.
Whew! After that long and hard trip, I am feeling like I accomplished something big! This has made such an impact on my life, and I cant believe how much I've matured. I see the trading post in the distance and I feel very happy!
I made it back to Lachine! I am totally going back to the Grand Portage next spring, I only came home because I missed my family and I wanted to not spend every night next to men who haven't showered properly in 3 months. Being a voyager has totally made me stronger as a person, and physically to if you know what I mean...
