  • I usually get pretty angry I wont listen to other people
  • One coping skill that we can use when we get overwhelmed is to take a deep breath and count to 10.
  • Our emotions and our bodies are linked so if we can manage our emotions we can control our actions. 
  • Today we will learn about different coping skills that help us manage our emotions
  • Who can tell me what happens when they are upset?
  • I usually get pretty
  • So if I can control my thoughts, I can stop my behaviors form impacting my relationships?
  • Yes! And if you know what your triggers are for your emotions, you can find ways to avoid them and prevent the behavior from happening. 
  • So if I know that doing something would trigger me, I should try to avoid it. But what if I can't avoid it?
  • Then we would have to choose a different coping skill. Who remembers a different coping skill that you could use?
  • You could ask for some space and take deep breaths
  • That's right! Great job everyone, using these techniques can help you find new ways to control your behaviors and I want you all to use them in your lives this week.
