In chapter one Tom Sawyer comes across a rich kid when heading to town. The boy "larger than himself" and dressed up nicely. The rich boy thinks he is better than Tom Sawyer because he has more money, but Tom sawyer ends up beating him up and chases him home. This is an example of satire that Mark Twain uses. He is satirizing people who are prejudice. Some people automatically judge someone by there money. Some people just assume someone is bad because of how they look and there money. The example is clearly making fun of people who are prejudice.
