We really need to discuss this quickly and figure it out.
Thomas Jefferson approached the Pennsylvania State House but realized it was not worth it. He'd rather just be the trade minister that he was supposed to be, so he returned to Paris.
We can all agree that we definitely just need to scrap the whole thing. Let's create a new government. Ideas?
Inside the Pennsylvania State House, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and the rest paced anxiously. They were all delegates from every state, ready to begin the Constitutional Convention.
The meeting was planned to address issues surrounding the Articles of Confederation. That's John Dickinson crying on the floor right there. He wrote it.
They knew that they had to create a new government...
but they knew it would take much longer than just a few days to figure it out. But on May 30th, just five days after the Convention began, a solution was offered!
James Madison brought up a plan that he and a few other delegates had drafted before the Convention.
OMG I just had the greatest idea. How about the Virginia Plan?
