The affected countries include: Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Somalia, Maldives, Tanzania, Seychelles, Bangladesh, South Africa and Yemen.
The impact of the tsunami left buildings torn and people without their homes. There were even houses without their owners. Some countries, such as India, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand, were left in worse condition than others.
Not only was the land damaged, there was a severe lack of daily resources which included food, clean water and medical treatment as well. For five years after the 2004 tsunami hit, buildings had to be rebuilt. However, the cost of the reconstruction was nearly over $7.8 billion for nongovernment agencies alone.
