EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
Q: WHAT IS A REPUBLIC? A republic is a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, which often includes a president. However, the group of citizens allowed to vote are restricted by a charter, which limits the responsibility and power of the state. Not everyone agrees with this, which is why the two groups, called democrats and republicans exist. Republicans support the idea of a republic while democrats support the idea of a democracy. If no one agrees with either, there is another category. This category is called "independent". This means that the voter looks at who they think would be the best person for dealing with issues in our world rather than vote for the political party they believe in.
Q: Can a republic be better than a democracy? Just as you saw Mira say below, it depends on what you look at or believe in. For one, a republic gives people the right to own private property and grow their own business. At the same time, a republic doesn't support a lot of things, creating limits for many people. A republic also doesn't rule based on how anyone feels... it rules based on what the constitutional laws are. Like we said before, really, it just... depends.
It depends on which part you look at.
