One day he was running errands for Mrs. Auld. Frederick was walking down a dirty, muddy road and saw a sign that said slaves for sale. He was astonished at the horrifying site and he thought about the words Mr. Auld had said to Mrs. Auld “He would be miserable.” All of a sudden it clicked. It was like a light bulb has just turned on in his head. He had finally realized what the words meant and instantly got a horrifying flashback when his mom getting separated from him. When they got separated, he was miserable and the same feeling came back.
Frederick was absolutely hopeless. He would think to himself I will never be free. I won’t even get to little taste freedom. He would over and over again play those cursed words in his head and it made him feel dreadful. One day he was working in the kitchen when his friend Jake noticed that he looked gruesome “What’s wrong Frederick?” “I don’t know I’m just not feeling great today.” “Frederick you are stuck in the dark. You need to reach towards the light.” said Jake. Those words had inspired Frederick drastically. He felt like a whole new man.
Frederick was so elated. He was eager for the light. He wanted the rope to get him out of the dark. He had then realized the urge and the want was the rope out of the darkness. He had his hope back. He felt renewed like some refilled his hope with fuel. He was finally in the light. That night he had an inspiring dream of when he was running in an alluring field. In the field he felt the sense of freedom. The wind running through his dark brown hair. The fresh smell of the sunflowers planted in the field. When he woke up the next morning to the sound of the obnoxious horn. He thought to himself I will find have that sense of freedom. I’m going to find that field.
