Santa Anna sent 1000 soldiers led by General Cos to take back the cannon they gave to Texas.
Since the people of Gonzales didn't want to give the cannon, they buried it near a peach orchard.
Once 100 soldiers from Mexico arrived, they were stopped by the river, which was too deep because of the storm earlier.
Ah man, so close.
The woman in Gonzales made a flag out of wedding dresses, which said, COME AND GET IT!
Come and get it!
When Lieutenant Castaneda threatened Gonzales for the cannon and Gonzales including John Moore basically said no, Gonzales used the cannon against mexico using not only a few cannon balls, but also chains, glass, nails, horseshoes, etc.
COME AND GET IT!
The river lowered and the people of Gonzales went across and attacked. In the end, Mexico retreated knowing they wouldn't survive with not being able to hurt Texas. Texas won with no deaths while Mexico had one.
