- The boy wants to detach from his mother because he believes that he's already grown up. He was embarrassed that his mom still drives him to school instead of riding a bus to school. Wanting acceptance of peers can result in a distancing of a child's parents due to the desire for something.
- Mom, I'm old enough to handle myself.
- Let's go, son. I'll drive you to your school...
- At this point, her son was shy that his friend caught him going out of his mother's car because his friend thought that he uses to ride a bus to go to their school.
- Whoa, you're mom still drives you to school?
- Mom, I already told you that I can ride a bus instead of you taking me to school. I'm already a big boy.
- Do well in school, son. Love you...
- The boy and his friend begin to develop their decision-making skills, they learn how to keep a secret and to make a secret. They learn how to trust one another and this is were a change in behavioral autonomy takes place.
- It's fine, I'll keep it as a secret. Our secret.
