Storyboard Text

  • As a little girl, Sophie's father was verbally abusive to the family. Sophies's mother loved her and her siblings very much and eventually divorced their father. Sophie suffered the effects of her father's abuse which affected her life in many ways.
  • Sophie, you are useless. Get out of here.
  • I just want my father to accept and love me.
  •   In her early twenties, Sophie and her friend would frequent the club. Then one night she formally meets Kas, as he always had his eye on her at the club. They kept in contact with each other over the next couple of years.
  • Hello, my name is Kas. What is your name?
  •   My name is Sophie. Nice to meet you!
  • After a couple of failed relationships and work becomes stressful for Sophie, Kas convinces her to visit him. So Sophie boards a plane for a week-long trip to Italy, even though the last time she saw Kas was that night she met him in the club.
  • I wonder if we are more than friends.
  • I miss you, mom.  I want to come home I don't belong here.
  • The week went amazing until Sophie was to return home, and that's when everything changed in Sophie's life for the worse. Kas turned out to be a ruthless man who forced Sophie to stay in Italy and manipulated her to work on the streets as a prostitute.
  • I haven't seen her before, she looks scared.
  • After a year of being forced into prostitution while enduring physical and emotional abuse from Kas daily, Sophie ended up getting ill. Sophie's mother had a safe word just in case she was ever in trouble, and prayed she hears these words knowing her daughter was not okay. Sophie phones her mother to ask "how is auntie Louise?" the words her mother waited so long to hear.
  •  God, thank you for the courage to reach out for help.
  • Do you want to talk about what happened, Sophie?
  •  Sophie didn't convict Kas although it's her human right to charge him. An agency that is known as Stop The Trafficked helped Sophie rebuild herself and her life as she speaks publicly to young girls that are vulnerable to human trafficking. Also, the Sophie Hayes Foundation increases awareness and raises funds for survivors of human trafficking, as Sophie found healing in telling her story.
  • Good Afternoon, my name is Sophie Hayes, and I am a survivor!
