Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • My name is Charles Baker Harris. You can call me Dill!
  • I´m Scout Finch.
  • I´m Jem Finch.
  • Rising Action
  • Rising Action continued...
  • I will be defending Tom Robinson in a rape case.
  • Dill comes to town and meets Jem and Scout. After getting to know eachother and seeing eachother for a few days, Dill has the idea of starting to spy on the Maycomb mystery himself, Boo Radley. The kids want to make Boo Radley come out because he had not for 15 years.
  • Climax
  • At an extreme attempt to spy on Boo, Jem decides to enter the Radley porch while Dill and Jem stay behind the fence. As Jem is on the porch, Nathan Radley comes out and shoots his gun thinking itś a negro trying to break into his home. As Jem sprints for his life, his pants get caught on the fence so he leaves them. Later, Jem goes back to retrieve his pants to find them folded over the fence, not where he left them.
  • Falling Action
  • Atticus tells Jem that he has been appointed by the town to defend Tom Robinson, a black man, in a case where he was accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Atticus also tells Jem that he will be taking the case. Jem is suprised by this but supports Atticus anyway because he knows that no one else will care to fight hard for Tom´s innocence besides his father.
  • Resolution
  • In the trial, Tom Robinson is convicted of being guilty. Many people are upset by this, especially Jem. Jem knows that Atticus had the best reasoning behind proving Tom innocent. It is hard for Jem to accept Tom´s apparent guilt when he was clearly innocent. However in this moment, Jem realizes that Maycomb is full of prejudice, ignorant people who don´t know how to consider all sides of any problem they are faced with if they don´t like one of the options.
  • Guilty!
  • Tom Robinson is killed after he tries to ¨run away.¨ He was shot 17 times. The town is in shock, especially Jem. Jem can´t believe that after all his father had worked for to try to convince the town of how Tom is just like any other human being and not some monster, that he could just be killed that easily and feel no remorse.
  • Tom is dead.
  • At an attempt to get back at Atticus for defending Tom Robinson who apparently raped his daughter, Mayella, Bob Ewell follows Jem and Scout into the woods. Bob breaks Jem´s arm. Jem is picked up by Boo Radley and brought back home by him. Boo later kills Bob Ewell with a kitchen knife.
