Galileo Galilei Galileo was most known for his discovery of Jupiter's four most largest moons, the Galilean moons. He went against the church's Geocentric ideas and was put in permanent house arrest.
Hmm... Has anyone ever considered creating laws for planetary motion?
Isaac Newton Newton invented the three laws of motion and discovered calculus. As a child he didn't have very many friends, or an interest to play outside.
But my theories are correct!
You are hereby sentenced to house arrest for your anti-catholic theories.
Nicolaus Copernicus Copernicus was the first to question the Geocentric theory. He grew up in a wealthy family, which allowed him to get the education he needed to have this theory.
Today we will learn about the Scientific Revolution and the people in it!
Johann Kepler He invented the laws of planetary motion, based on his works Astronomia rava, Harmonices Munai, and Epitome of Copernican Astronomy. He was born on December 27, 1571 and he died on November 15, 1630.
Even though the majority of scientific theories made during this time period were correct, the church refused to believe anything that challenged their interpretation of the bible and Catholicism. They would excommunicate/punish the scientists who challenged this theory.
It doesn't matter, they still went against the church.
The scientific revolution greatly impacted our world and studies today. If Galileo, Isaac Newton, and others didn't dare to go against the church back then we might not have the scientific method, laws of motion, or possibly even the heliocentric theory!
