This is the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau also known as the "roof of the world." Its average elevation is 13,500 feet.The Himalayas lie on the southern side of the border. The Haunga He and the Chang Jiang lie on the platuea.
I am here at the Taklimkan Desert. It covers about 105,000 square miles and is considered one of the most deserts in the world. A Legend says that "two armies and 300 cities and buried 600 feet beneath the sand dunes.(215)
The Gobi Desert stretches over 500,000 square miles. It is one of the worlds largest deserts in the world. The Gobi has very few sand dunes it is very stony and there is very little vegetation.
We are here in the Northeastern Plain. There is a lot of vegetation its mostly prairie grass. The North and eastern part is very dry and cold in the winter. The southern part has very mild weather. It has two rivers running through it. The Liao is one of them and the other is the Sungari.
we are here at the North China Plain. This is home to the Haung He one of the longest rivers in the world. Also home to the land of the Yellow River. The river is very muddy hence the name. It is warm and moist here.
we are here at the Chang Jiang basin. This is home the the Chang Jiang River which is one of the biggest rivers. It is very wet and warm there. Most people grow rice in the basin.
