  • Organic Molecules
  • Today we will learn about organic molecules
  • Organic Substances
  • The important groups of organic chemicals in cells include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids
  • All of these groups correspond with each other and help the body function properly. Without them we would't be able to survive
  • Carbohydrates
  • As you can see we are in the kitchen
  • We are back in the classroom to learn about what carbohydrates really are and what they do for us
  • A futuristic house in Allendale, California, August 4, 2026. The world is also destroyed.
  • Carbohydrates
  • -Carbohydrates give cells the energy they need.-They also give materials needed to build cell structures and often are stored as reserve energy supplies-Carbohydrates are classified by size-Carbohydrates consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen
  • Point Of View: Third Person OmniscientTone: Sad, then even more sad
  • Levels of Carbohydrates
  • The different levels of carbohydrates:1. Monosaccharide: the simple carbohydrates or sugars. They include the five carbon sugars as well as the six carbon sugars
  • Conflict: Machine vs Nature: House vs Fire
  • Levels of Carbohydrates continued
  • I have brought the class here because I know all of you are familiar with things like bread, potatoes, and rice. These are all carbohydrates which we are going to learn about
  • 2. Disaccharides: the simple carbohydrates and sugars. They consist of 6-carbon sugars.3.Polysaccharide: complex carbohydrates; made up of simple carbohydrates linked to form larger molecules of different sizes
  • Main Characters: The House - Round, Static - Oblivious to lack of humans, paranoid, cheerful, ultimately unable to protect selfFire - Flat, Static - Ravenous, doesn't care about the house or its once-inhabidents
  • Symbolism:Fire: Nature. It will go on without us.The House: Technology. It ultimately cannot protect us or itself from natureThe Shadows: Humans, and their impact. Even if we destroy each other in a brutal war, nature will go on without us, and barely even remember us.
  • Theme: Nature doesn't care about people. It will just keep going.
