The Hadley family is a family of four people, Lydia Hadley, George Hadley, and the children Wendy and Peter. They live in a smart technology house called “Happylife Home” which treated the Hadley’s well and does almost all household things for them every day. They are very dependent on this futuristic tool and use it every day. Also, within the house is a room called the nursery. This room projects images based on the user's thoughts and creates a real-life interpretation of what the individual is thinking. The room's purpose is for the children's learning.
Lydia and George Hadley explore the nursery and experience an Africa scene filled with lions and vultures which had just been done feeding and chase the parents outside of the room. Lydia believes the house has taken over motherly roles and is not good for the children nor the parents. She convinces the husband and they talk of turning off the house for a vacation. The children are also very disrespectful and show love and compassion for the nursery.
The parents tell the children they are going to be shutting off the house, The children backlash strongly and even sneak into the nursery at night once more.
The Psychologist comes to look at the nursery since the parents are concerned about how it has been acting. The kids also get into the room again with the parent's approval.
The Children trick the parents and lock them inside the nursery. The africa scene is in process and the lions come to get them. The children took it to themselves to keep the nursery”alive”.
Technology demonstrates negative aspects on technology, how we may see something as living and treat it as living, although, it is machine.
