In chapter eight miss.Maudie house catches on fire. Atticus goes inside to help and make sure she is ok. Scout and jem stay back and boo comes to scout and wraps a blanket around her. This is important becausee scout almost saw "boo" and in the chapter it helps represent Miss.Maudies character because she was very positive about the event.
Jem who's blanket is this and who put it on me?
Scout did you not see that Boo put that blanket on you?
Don't you dare say that about Atticus!!!! *********
In this chapter Francis calls Atticus a mean name to scout. Scout gets furious and beats him up. This important because it helps show what people think of Atticus because he is going to be defending a colored man in a court case against a white female.
Attcus is a n lover
A mad dog is on the loose and Heck Tate (The police officer) can't get it. Atticus is talented and he was able to kill the dog before anyone got hurt. Atticus makes Jem go to Mrs. Dubose house each day to read to her because she is old and it is a good thing for Jem to do to learn and grow. Jem sees mrs. Dubose as a mean old lady after time he sees her as a somewhat nice women. Mrs .Dubose gets ill and passes away. She gives Jem a gift and Jem throws it in the fire. He could not take the pain from the death. This a very good coming of age moment for Jem.
