Rock Transformation

Storyboard Text

  • The Rocky Mountains:
  • Hi! I am an igneous rock!
  • This igneous rock is from the Rocky mountains. The rock formed when magma below Earth's surface melted, cooled, and became solid. Energy from Earth's interior was used for this process to begin.
  • Sediment
  • Energy from the sun is absorbed by the igneous rock.
  • The igneous rock has been weathered down to sediment!
  • Hello! I am a sedimentary Rock!
  • The layer of sediment that was once an igneous rock, is transported through the waterfall to the river!
  • The sediment is going through a process of compaction and cementation from the sun's energy.
  • Now the Igneous rock has transformed into a Sedimentary rock!
