I'm Nicolaus Copernicus. I was born in Torun, Poland. I lived from 1473-1543.
After my father died, my uncle provided me with good education and I attended Poland's University of Krakow.
After Krakow, I went to Italy and studied medicine. After staying with an astronomy teacher, I became fascinated with astronomy.
While in Italy, my creative mind and brave questions led to some good scientific work.
Since I did well with math and observations, I studied the motions of stars and planets I discovered earth and other planets revolve around the sun, and that the earth spins on it's axis. I created the book On the Revolutions of Celestial Spheres. Even though the Pope had once banned my book after my death, I influenced key scientist and my theory was eventually proven correct.
My observations reflected on the Renaissance and influenced people to not just believe what they are told by the church and to incorporate science.
