You look so similar to me but so different at the same time! Whats up with that?
Over 4 million years ago, we both evolved into separate animals from a common ancestor. That's why we share so many traits while still being different species!
Wow that's cool, but can you explain what a common ancestor#160;is?
That means that far in the past we were both the same animal, but we each evolved new traits to help us in our environments, until we became different enough to be classified as separate animals.
What are some of the characteristics that you developed to be favored by your environment?
Glad you asked! Some of the things we developed over time are our striped coats to help us hide from our greatest predator, lions, who have terrible eyesight. We also have long thin legs that allow for agile movement, allowing us to escape predators in chases. Next, we travel in herds and help each other out when we need it, allowing us to survive longer. Finally, we have powerful legs that we can use to kick and defend ourselves.
That's very interesting thanks for explaining, its getting late so i think we should go.
