Fair Hippolyta ,four happy days bring in another moon !
The moon , shall behold the nights of our solemnities .
Egeus the father of Hermia ,whishes that her daughter wed's Demetrius, but Hermia wants to marry Lysander. Also Demetrius is in love with Hermia.Egeussaid to Hermia that if she does not wed Demitrius she will be killed. Hermia ,stressed ,asked to have a break and wished to argue another time.
A moment later ...
Hermia,I have a widow aunt of great revenue. Her house is only seven leagues away. There the Athenian laws do not apply. We shall escape and meet in the woods.
My good Lysander I swear to thee, by Cupid's strongest bow, to-morrow truly will I meet with thee.
God speed ,fair Helena !
Call you me fair? O, teach me with what art you sway the motion of Demetruius' heat!
I frown upon him, yet he loves me still.
O that your frowns would teach my smiles such skill !
Lysander and myself will fly this place.
Tomorrow night, through Athens' gates have we devised to steal.
