De La Salle’s faith was ignited in his youth. His grandmother served as a reliable mentor to him, teaching him stories from the Gospel and helping him recognize God in his life.
This kind of normalization of God in his life created a need for salvation and meaning in life for De La Salle that manifests throughout the rest of his experiences.
De La Salle chose to satisfy this need through religious service, even being ordained as a deacon
Here, he learned how to strengthen his trust in God by finding Him and forging new bonds with the community and religious leaders in the seminary
He entered the St. Sulpice Seminary with hopes of becoming a priest
