  • I am a noble. I pay little to no taxes.
  • I am the clergy. I pay no taxes
  • I am the common people. I barely earn enough for myself, but I have to pay the most in taxes
  • not enough food
  • WE WANT FOOD!!!
  • too many taxes
  • NO MORE TAXES!!!
  • France was divided into 3 estates. the clergy that paid no taxes but earned the most. the nobles that earned enough to support their families but paid little to no taxes, and the common people who don't have enough to support even themselves but pay the most taxes.
  • Storming of Bastille
  • The commoners were angry because they weren't able to feed their children and had to starve because of the poor harvest causing the food prices to increase. they couldn't afford food because they had to pay the most in taxes.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette
  • The Common people had to pay the most in taxes, sometimes more than half their income.
  • The Reign of Terror 
  • Rumors spread that royal troops were going to occupy the capital. 800 Parisians decide to assemble outside the Bastille – Medieval French prison. French citizens took over the Bastille and ripped the structure apart. Killing the Governor of the Bastille and guards.
  • REVOLUTION!!
  • RUN!!!
  • STORM THE BASTILLE!!
  • The people stormed the castle capturing King Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette. Confining them to their rooms. King Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette planned an escape. They were caught and put to DEATH by a GUILLOTINE.  
  • DEATH!!!
  • Robespierre took over creating the committee of public safety. Robespierre had lots of enemies, so the Guillotine was used morning, noon and night. During his reign the  National Convention defended him because they were afraid of him. About 300,000 people were arrested, About 7,000 people executed, and About 40,000 were killed during the French Revolution by the guillotine.85% were peasants.
