Isn't it great that the new calendar tells us when to plant crops?
What would we do without it?
The Mayan civilization peaked around the 6th century, and lasted for about 1,200 years. It ended in 800 C. E. The Mayan civilization extended southeastern Mexico across modern-day Guatemala, Belize and the western parts of Honduras and El Salvador.
No! Please don't sacrifice me! I'm to young!
One of the inventions of the Mayans was rubber without vulcanization. They used the rubber to make balls for them to play with. I think that rubber is important because if the Mayans didn't invent, then no one might have and we wouldn't have tires today.
Another one of the Mayans inventions was a 365 day calendar. But not just one, 3 different calendars, Tzolkin, Haab, and Long Count. I think that this is important because the calendar helped them to know when to plant/water their crops.
What are we going to do?
We don't have anymore water!
The Mayans also, constructed beautiful buildings. Such as, palaces, acropolises, pyramids, and astronomical observatories. I think that these buildings are important because without them the Mayans wouldn't have a place to do anything. They couldn't have governmental meetings, bury important people, have religious meetings, and perform sacrifices.
Theory 1. Warfare Theory 2. Disease Theory 3. Famine Theory 4. Disaster or Environmental Change I think that the Mayans could have just started killing each other because maybe one person had something better than the other person. Theory 4. Disaster or Environmental Change
Do we have any food left?
Where is the rest of the water?
I don't know. I guess it dried up.
I think that the real reason the Mayan Civilization came to an end was because of a drought. If there was a drought, that means that there was no food or water, so they would have died. Also, drought can lead to warfare, disease, and famine.
