  • Japanese colonization/imperialism
  • Tonight, we're going to invade Vietnam.
  • Yes, Sir.
  • U.S. oil/steel embargo on Japan
  • I have decided to cut off all assets to Japan, but oil.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii & the Surprise Attack
  • Oh no! A torpedo is coming this way!
  • What do we do?
  • Japan started invading and taking over lots of countries. Such as, Manchuria, Vietnam, Laos, Kampuchea, and parts of China.  
  • Japanese Internment Camps
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt froze all of the Japanese assets except oil.
  • FDR Speech
  • The attack of Pearl Harbor was December 7, 1941. It was the day when Japan attacked Hawaii by bombing Pearl Harbor. Washington was warned about the attack, but they didn't believe it would actually happen.
  • Declaration of War
  • As of today, we are officially at war with Japan.
  • Japanese internment camps were camps that the Japanese soldiers were forced to go to after the war. Even Hawaiians of Japanese decent had to go to these camps.
  • Why do we have to stay here?
  • Because we are Japanese
  • The day after the attack, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a speech. The most famous quote from that speech is, "a date which will live in infamy."
  • Yesterday, will forever be a date which will live in infamy.
  • The day after the Pearl Harbor attack, the United States declared war on Japan.
