  • In March 10 ,1995, there was a court case in Texas called the "United States VS Lopez".
  • One student named Alfonso Lopez bought in a gun to school and was arrested. He was charged for violating a federal law. Lopez was found "guilty" and was sentenced to six months of prison, including a two years probation. 
  • Drop the weapon!!!
  • Lopez notices that the Federal Government is abusing the Commerce Clause and said that it was unfair.
  • School = State & Local Government  Federal Government = Not School NANI?  That's NOT FAIR!!!
  • His first attempted had failed and took it to the Supreme Court about this case.
  • It was rigged!!!
  • The Federals have the power to do it.
  • The Supreme Court believed that the Federal Government are abusing this power (from the Commerce Clause). The Federal Government believed that the Gun Act was connected to the Commerce Clause. 
  • My case won!!! Don't tell them about my punishment.
  • I lost? Nani?
  • In favored, Say I.
  • The decision was a split vote between 5 Yes against 4 No. This is the first case, since 50 years ago regarding about the Federal Government Power. They made sure that the Federal Government are not breaking any rules & have a limit. The court overturned Lopez's conviction.
