Korea was divided the 38th parallel in 1945. The Soviets controlled the North with a communist regime. While America controlled the south with pro-American regime.
5 years later, the Korean War had started when North Korean troops marched across the 38th parallel to reunite the country
September 1950, North Korea pushed far into South Korea
General MacArthur had a strategy to stop North Korea. He decided they would march into North Korea, they nearly reached the Yalu River.
Once China got involved into the war, the battle became a stalemate.

South Korea won the war and stayed a separate country. North Korea became weak, while South Korea was very strong economically
