  • Korea was divided the 38th parallel in 1945. The Soviets controlled the North with a communist regime. While America controlled the south with pro-American regime.
  • 5 years later, the Korean War had started when North Korean troops marched across the 38th parallel to reunite the country
  • September 1950, North Korea pushed far into South Korea
  • General MacArthur had a strategy to stop North Korea. He decided they would march into North Korea, they nearly reached the Yalu River.
  • Once China got involved into the war, the battle became a stalemate.
  • Uh oh, are we too late?
  • Victory!!!!!
  • South Korea won the war and stayed a separate country. North Korea became weak, while South Korea was very strong economically
