King Laius and Queen Jocosta give there son, Oedipus to King Polybus and Queen Merope because they heard a prophecy that their son will kill his father and marry his mother.

Many years later Oedipus gets drunk and someone tells him his fate, Oedipus then consults an oracle and the rumor is true.
Oedipus becomes King
Oedipus leaves Corinth and travels to Thebes, He crosses paths with his birth father and murders him as a method of self defense
King Oedipus and Queen Jacosta find out the truth...
On his way to Thebes, Oedipus runs into a Sphinx, the Sphinxs gives Odepipus a riddle. If he gets the answer correct he will be allowed to enter the city of Thebes, but if not he will be killed. Oedipus answers the riddle correctly and is alowed to pass.
The Queens brother said whoever could solve the Sphinx's riddle shall become King. Since Oedipus did so he took the thrown and marries Queen Jacosta. They later have 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Many years later the Odeipus discovers the truth. Queen Jacosta is his mother, and the previous King (in which he killed) was his father. Queen Jacosta then commits suicide, leaving Oedipus to find her and gouge his own eyes out from distress. He later goes into exile with his two daughters Antigone and Ismene
