Storyboard Text

  • "Merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. " P.3
  • "She could see little oily swirls in the liquid because it was so strong." P.16
  • "down the steps to the cellar, the deep freeze, the hand inside the cabinet taking hold of the first object it met." P.38
  • Mary is patiently waiting for her husband to come home from work just like she does every night. She hears his tires hit the driveway and the door twist open.
  • "All right then, they would have lamb for supper.... At that point, Mary Maloney simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head."
  • Mary is worried because her husband was drinking another glass of alcohol. He usually doesn't drink this much directly after work. She felt as if he was tired and fed up with work so she kept offering him food and drinks and to even get his slippers but it just made him more angry.
  • "She rehearsed it several times more. Then she ran downstairs, took her coat, went out the back door, down the garden, into the street. It wasn’t six o’clock yet and the lights were still on in the grocery shop."
  • Mary is going down to the garage to get something to make for dinner. Before this her husband told her that he is divorcing her and is unhappy with her so she is trying to tell herself that it isn't true by going with the flow.
  • “Please,” she begged. “Please eat it. Personally I couldn’t touch a thing, certainly not what’s been in the house when he was here. But it’s all right for you. It’d be a favor to me if you’d eat it up.Then you can go on with your work again afterwards.”
  • Mary clashed the Lamb leg against her husband's head as he fell to the ground. She wasn't really worried. She put the lamb leg into the oven to hide evidence.
  • Mary rehearsed her cover up story over and over until she got it. She went out to get food as part of the cover up. She came home, wrecked the house and made it look like someone killed her husband while she was gone. She called her husband's fellow policemen friends to come investigate.
  • She knew the policemen were hungry and she knew she needed to get rid of the evidence. The evidence was the Lamb leg. She asked the two policemen to eat the lamb. The policemen destroyed the evidence for her. She feels sneaky, in which she is, now no one will figure out that she killed her husband.
