Mrs. Prynne is self assured in this novel. She was confident and bold even after her time in prison. Hester realized the label she carried but still stepped out of her cell with ¨dignity and force of character¨ (45).
As punishment for her actions Hester was to wear the letter A on her chest at all times as a symbol of shame. But to the peoples surprise it was ¨fantastically embroidered and illuminated upon her bosom¨ (46). All of her attire was elegant but she had stitched this brand with unbelievable beauty.
Hester is authentic. She is aware that her past actions were sinful but is still not afraid of exposing herself. Mrs. Prynne was to ¨stand a certain time upon a platform¨ (47) and while most people would be hiding in their shame as they did this she held herself up proud making everything she was visible.
