- This scene is Della going into the Hair Salon, contemplating selling her own hair for money to find a gift for Jim.
- I have to find a gift for Jim, but first I will have to find some money.
- I offer twenty dollars
- Here is my hair, how much would it sell for?
- This scene shows Della with her hair cut off, and goes to a salon to sell the hair for 20 dollars.
- This scene shows the confusion and shock James was feeling when he found out Della sold her hair for his gift.
- You...cut off your hair?
- Dear, I have shorn off my hair and searched everywhere for this gift, please enjoy it! Give me your watch, I will put it on for you
- This scene shows the turning point of the story, when Della finds out James had in fact, also sold his watch for a gift for her, however each person cannot use each other's gifts as they have both sold the one thing the gift is used for.
- ...But I bought you this, a comb kit for your hair!
- Oh my, what have we done?
- This scene is the resolution, which shows James and Della putting aside their presents and enjoying their Christmas together, as a loving couple.
- It's alright dear, how about we just enjoy our Christmas together, as it should be. Put the chops on please.
