Once upon a time, there was a labyrinth that Daedalus built for the king, the king was to sacrifice kids to the beast inside of the labyrinth, one day the kings son instead killed the beast, his father had sent Daedalus to live in a tower facing the lonely river because his son had escaped his labyrinth and killed the beast. Now Daedalus and his son Icarus live in the tower.
Daedalus comes up with a plan for them to escape. When Daedalus left the tower he found out he was prisoner on their island. The king can control the water and the ground but, he cannot control the sky. Daedalus's plan was to build bird wings out of feathers and and wax. When he had finally built wings for him and his son he was nervous about his son going to high or to low. "Icarus don't fly to low because the fog and spray will clog your wings, don't fly to high because the sun will melt will melt the wax, stay behind me."
Daedalus took off first soaring through the sky, he would look back and check on his son. His son started to fly to high. Daedalus started up to help his son but , his wings were too heavy. Icarus fell from the sky and landed in the river. He had died. Daedalus found a couple of feathers of his and kept them.
Daedalus's flight wasn't as exciting anymore. He didn't enjoy the victory of flying either. He carried his son as he flew even though it had made the tip of his wings wet.
He buried his son and named the island Icaria after him. He no longer enjoyed the victory of flying. He arrived at Sicily where he had built a temple for Apollo and hung his wings, he pressed in a couple of feathers from his sons wings, and he mourned.
