In this scene Equality knows he cannot stay at his tunnel, or he will be caught, so he decides to go to the home of the street sweepers. There he meets the Council of the home. The council then asks where Equality had been, Equality would not budge so the council took him for brutal interrogation.
Equality was brought into a room with no windows and is pretty much empty. Equality's clothes were ripped off his body. He was lashed until he would confess to where he had been.
Equality sits in not good condition at all, he was brought bread and water twice a day. Time passes and all he could do is think. Equality thinks on what to do next and what he needed to do is escape.
