Ginger lived in the forest with her mother and father. She was a squirrel. Ginger liked being a squirrel. She would run around and eat nuts and acorns and have fun all day.
Don’t wander too far!
On a summer’s day, Ginger decided to go find some nuts to snack on. She told her parents where she was going.
And off she went, deep into the forest, carrying her little basket. Ginger walked and walked, stopping every so often to pick a nut and put it in her basket.
Of course I won’t get lost or stay out after dark! I’ve gone looking for nuts all the time, and nothing has ever happened to me! Why would this time be any different?
Make sure to come back before dark!
After a while, Ginger began to daydream. She walked farther and farther, not really noticing where she was going. Suddenly, she tripped over a root. The basket flew out of her hand. All the nuts fell out and rolled across the ground. Ginger leaned forward to try to gather some of the nuts back up, but it was too dark for her to see the nuts. Ginger looked around. She didn't know where she was. Uh-oh... She was lost.
Ginger began to cry
Oh no! An owl!
I´m lost, and I´m hungry, and I don´t know what to do!
Suddenly, she heard a rustling sound above her. Ginger looked up and gasped.
the owl said
“I’m lost and I´m hungry and I just want to go home!”
"Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. Where do you come from? I´ve never seen you around here,"
