The Middle Ages were very dirty as the houses were made of stone or of branches covered with mud and straws. The rooms were made of dirt and there was no proper sanitation or tidyness. People would often have lice.

The Middle Ages were rural because the majority of the population lived in the country side. 85% of the population are peasants. There were very few towns because people could barely afford to build houses. Peasants lived in towns on the lord's manor.
They were not educated. Even kings, dukes and kings could often not read. Only in the monastaries, monks and nuns learned latin and to write and read.
They were superstitious because during the Middle Ages there was no science or anything to prove that something is true. So people had to use their imagination to make sense of the world.
In the Middle Ages people were religious. Christianity dominated because peasants liked the idea of Jesus standing up for himself. Non religious people were made religious because there were so many religions fighting over each other to get people to believe in them.
