  • Hi I am Molly and today I am going to show you step by step of how the Grand Canyon was made
  • Hi I am Molly and today I am going to show you how the Grand Canyon was made!
  • First off a mountain range the size of the Himalayas was once where the Grand Canyon is now today, but the mountain range eventually eroided after millions of years and now the G.C. is here!
  • Why is the Grand Canyon's layers all the same color, but so different, you might ask. Well lucky for you other scientists and I found this out. What happened is 8 different oceans came and went dropping off different sediment creating the different layers we see today.
  • Lastly, energy from the falling water and rocks carried by the water carved the Grand Canyon 1 foot per 1,000 years! Thank you for watching and listening! See you all next time!
  • Tectonic movement forced the plain straight up into a plateau. This is one of the things that makes the Grand Canyon so great! This almost never happens!
  • Next, an ancient lake called Bidahochi spilled all over the plateau.
