  • The carbon dioxide gets sent into the hydrosphere and the ocean dissolves it. Then the ocean gives the dissolved carbon dioxide to the aquatic plants so they can do photosynthesis.

  • When combustion happens, carbon dioxide is released into the air from the biosphere and sent back into the atmosphere.
  • When animals die and decompose, they release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. When they die they could also be buried into the ground and become part of the geosphere as sediments or fossil fuels.
  • When an elk eats grass, it gets the carbon from that plant. Then when a wolf eats that elk, it gets the carbon from that elk into its body.
