Storyboard Text

  • Well sweetie, it all started with 5 scientists! I'll tell you about them!
  • Grampy, how did the cell theory come to be?
  • Hmmm, these things sort of remind me of a jail cell or where a Monk sleeps. I should call them cells.
  • In 1665, Robert Hooke looked at a piece of cork under the microscope and came up with the term "cell" in the biology sense.
  • In 1828, Robert Brown discovered the nucleus of a cell.
  • Wow, all these cells have a circle in the middle. This must be the nucleus.
  • In 1838, Matthias Schleiden discovered that all plants are made out of cells.
  • Golly Gee, all of these plants appear to be made out of cells!
  • In 1839, Theodore Schwann discovered that all animals are made out of cells.
  • Holy Guacamole, all the animals I have observed are made out of cells!
  • In 1858, Rudolph Virchow stated that all cells come from pre-existing cells.
  • Wow, all of these cells came from other cells!
