1. Learn the Treble Clef Scale and what the musical alphabet is. Also learn what sharp and flat notes are.
2. You will be given the trumpet by now. You will first have to learn the important parts of the trumpet and how they function.
3. Learn where your mouth and fingers go on the trumpet. (1.Put your left Pinky finger in the 3rd trigger, and bend your left thumb on one of the valve pipes; the pipes under the valve. 2.Put your right thumb on the 1st trigger and your index, middle, ring finger on the three valves. If you see a little extended thing on the trumpet that looks like a C, put your right pinky through it.)
4. Find a computer or band book and learn what keys the 3 valves represent. MAKE SURE TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY SHARP AND FLAT KEYS. (I recommend a video).
5.Learn how to blow air through your trumpet (Make a MMM sound from your mouth and blow. Don't smile when playing.)
6.Try to get involved in bands at school or recreational bands. Put some time in at home to practice. I recommend you to see a band teacher to help you.
