  • 1. Learn the Treble Clef Scale and what the musical alphabet is. Also learn what sharp and flat notes are.

  • 2. You will be given the trumpet by now. You will first have to learn the important parts of the trumpet and how they function.

  • 3. Learn where your mouth and fingers go on the trumpet. (1.Put your left Pinky finger in the 3rd trigger, and bend your left thumb on one of the valve pipes; the pipes under the valve. 2.Put your right thumb on the 1st trigger and your index, middle, ring finger on the three valves. If you see a little extended thing on the trumpet that looks like a C, put your right pinky through it.)

  • 4. Find a computer or band book and learn what keys the 3 valves represent. MAKE SURE TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY SHARP AND FLAT KEYS. (I recommend a video).
  • 5.Learn how to blow air through your trumpet (Make a MMM sound from your mouth and blow. Don't smile when playing.)
  • 6.Try to get involved in bands at school or recreational bands. Put some time in at home to practice. I recommend you to see a band teacher to help you.
