- The Missouri Compromise admitted Missouri as a slave state. In these states the Cotton Gin (invented by Eli Whitney) made cleaning cotton faster and increased slavery.
- The Missouri Compromise admitted Maine as a free state and created a line that determined which states would be free and which ones wold be slave states.
- The Monroe Doctrine was a foreign policy to keep Europeans away from the Western Hemisphere so the U.S could continue expanding.
- The Eerie Canal was used to ship bulk trade between the eastern seaboard and the western interior of the U.S. Eventually, tariffs were raised on imported goods which satisfied the North but not the South.
- The Marbury v. Madison case made it so that the Supreme Court can declare laws constitutional or not (judicial review). The Nullification Theory lets the states decide that for themselves.
