I took a moment outside to mentally prepare myself. I knew he was ok, it was just such a strange feeling.
My dad is the only reason I am who I am. From even before he married my mom, he was my father. He was sturdy, consistent, and, in my eyes, untouchable. It was terrifying to think I was wrong. At the end of the day, my dad is still just a man.
Just go upstairs, Shanon. You'll have to see him eventually anyway!
I was so confused by what I saw.
Besides a knot on his head and an ice pack on his wrist, my dad looked completely normal. He had no broken bones and a concussion but nothing physically seriously wrong.
Because of the concussion, he was speaking slower and quieter than usual. But I didn't mind. He didn't have to say anything. He was OK. And that was all I needed.
